ORE consists of 2 parts - ORE PART-1 and ORE PART-2

ORE PART-1: (approximately 800 pound fees charged by GDC)

• Theory-based conducted on computers at a specified center in UK

• Conducted over a stretch of two days 

• Part-1 further has two papers: paper-A and Paper-B carried out in a stretch of 2 days.

• Paper-A is based on basic subjects (like Anatomy, Microbiology, Physiology, Biochemistry, etc0 and applied human diseases). It consists of 200 questions to be solved in 3 hours.

• Paper-B is based on clinical subjects (like periodontics, prosthodontist, pedodontics, orthodontics, etc), law- ethics and health and safety. Similar to paper-A, paper-B also consists of 200 questions.

ORE PART-2: (approx. 2800 pounds fees charged by GDC)

It is a practical based examination that has 4 following components

1. Diagnosis and treatment planning (DTP)

2. Objective and Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

3. Manikin

4. Medical emergencies

BOTH THE PARTS ARE REQUIRED TO BE PASSED TO HAVE FULL REGISTRATION FROM GENERAL DENTAL COUNCIL

Maximum 4 attempts are allowed to pass each one of them.

50 percent marks are required separately in Paper-A and Paper-B of PART-1

Part-2 has to be passed within 5 years of passing the Part-1

First step: To apply for the application package on the GDC website by following the link "the route to register". After filling up basic personal information, GDC sends the package of forms that need to be completed and submitted to GDC in the form of hard copies. The form contains the checklist of documents which are submitted and send to GDC.

LIST OF DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO BE SUBMITTED:

• Application form

• character reference form

• certified copies of passport

• certified copy of degree certificate

• one passport size photograph

• original certificate of good standing

• evidence of name change (if applicable)

• original academic IELTS  test report form

• clinical experience

• original NARIC certificate

• medical certificate (if applicable)

• evidence of English language

Second step: Verification of documents by GDC panel

Third step: Following verification, registration team of GDC will send the link to create a new account which would be later on used by the candidate to book the slots in upcoming exams.

Fourth step: GDC will notify about the forthcoming exams through registered mail id and on the date of booking, the slots will be allotted on  a first come first basis.

DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF APPLICATIONS, CURRENTLY GDC IS TAKING APPROXIMATELY 4-6 MONTHS TO PROCESS EACH ONE OF THEM.
